The pareau print (sometimes spelled pareo), was originally used to describe a wrapped garment such as a sarong or lava-lava (worn by men) in Polynesian cultures. It has come to mean a simple two color floral print on rayon or cotton, and is used by hula dancers as part of their costumes. The pareau print is also used in the mens sportswear industry in the Aloha Shirts that have become synonymous with Aloha (or casual) Fridays.
